Petersfield FC return to Western Confed

FROME, Westmoreland — After an absence of two seasons, Petersfield FC is headed back to the Western Confederation Super League after winning the Captain's Bakery and Grill Westmoreland Football Association's Major League title on Sunday, beating 10-man Russia FC 2-1 in the finals played at Frome Sports Grounds.
Petersfield FC who had upset favourites Sandals Whitehouse in the semi-finals, led 1-0 at half -time through a goal from the prolific Hugo Hall. Otis Gayle equalised for Russia mid- way the second half before Shanor Cattan scored the winner in the 77th minute.
Russia who were appearing in their fourth finals in five years, was losing to Petersfield FC in a final for the second time.
In addition to the title, Petersfield collected $100,000 and the Captain's Bakery trophy, while Russia received $70,000.
Sandals who were third will get $40,000 while Race Course collected $20,000 for being placed fourth.
Petersfield will now join Norwood Strikers of St James and Holland United of Trelawny as three of the four teams that will be promoted to the Super League next season.
