CATHERINE HALL, St James — THE Odail Todd-led Green Island High Boys Class 1 relay teams sent a warning that they will be ready for next weekend's Gibson Relays, after winning two events at last Saturday's 34th staging of the Milo Western Relays at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

Green Island, who were winning their first-ever event at the one-day meet, won the Class 1 4x100m in a smart 40.50 seconds before erasing the year-old record in the 4x200m, after running 1:25.04 to beat Munro College's 1:25.67.

Feadian Royes, Gremeiko Whitelock, Chadwayne Vidal, and Todd, the IAAF World Youth Championships double medallist, comprised the 4x100m team, while Vidal, Whitelock, Royes, and Todd were the running order for the 4x200m relay.

Kingston College was second in the 4x100m with Wolmer’s Boys’ third, while defending champion Munro College finished behind Green Island in the 4x200m. Holmwood Technical came third.

The Hanover school's success will now put them in the spotlight for the Gibson Relays that will be held next Saturday at the National Stadium.

Western athletes won two other events, Petersfield High's Commonwealth Youth representative Asaine Hall won the women's 400m in a hand-timed 57.6 seconds, while STETHS' national youth representative Peta Gay Reid won the high jump with a new meet record of 1.80m.

Reid and defending champion Kimberly Williamson of Edwin Allen High both cleared 1.80m, but Reid won on the count back.

Montego Bay Preparatory won both Meet Director's Prep races, Anchovy High won the Meet Director's Primary school race, while Green Pond Primary won the Meet Director girls race.
