The French Ambassador to Jamaica Jean Michel Depax and his wife Line will join over 1,000 chefs on five continents [during the period March 19-25] in a celebration of French gastronomy as part of a festive event, Gout de France. From Paris, Tokyo, Sydney and Mumbai to New York City, Lima and The Vatican, foodies are invited to eat dinner at participating restaurants serving a special menu honouring the merits of French cuisine. The occasion celebrates traditional French values like conviviality, high-quality food and seasonal ethical cuisine.

Hosted in previous years at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel with Ardelle dalla Costa in the role of consulting culinary and design lead — the Alain Ducasse initiative will this year take place at the Ambassador's residence. Handling the evening's menu, a six-course affair, will be Matthieu Jolly, chef/patron at Les 2 Gros in Martinique, and culinary artist Oji Jaja of Ashebre The Virtual Kitchen.

It is the ambassador's hope that the black-tie dinner, with settings for 100 and Champagne, plus white wine from Entre deux Mer and red wine from Saint Emilion Bordeaux, will be a memorable one.

Proceeds from the dinner will go towards building a playground at the School for The Deaf. “The idea of a fund-raising event,” shared Depax, “was my wife Line's idea. She met philanthropist Valerie Facey at the School for The Deaf in Papine and immediately suggested them for our next fund-raiser. As you know, each time we organise an event at our residence a part of the proceeds goes to charity.”

Tickets are almost sold out, so if you're interested please contact The French Embassy TODAY!!.
