Planning for 2012: The Personal Guide

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

IN starting a new year, we make resolutions which are promises to accomplish the goals we set out to do. The aim of these resolutions tends to be to make up for any shortcomings of the previous year or simply for self-improvement.

One of the main criticisms of resolutions is that they start off with enthusiasm and once placed into the person's day-to-day life, they get placed on the back-burner only to be found again on next year's resolutions list.

TEENage would like to advise that a resolution should not be made without a plan of how to accomplish it because preparation is how completion is gained. We would also like to advise you on how to make the most of your resolutions.

The personal guide will tackle all the other endeavours that do not include school and are really things on the side you want to achieve this year. The first step is to make a logical and depending on how you remember things visual, auditory or tactile plan of how to accomplish this. The best and easiest way to do this is to get a calendar and start classifying the tasks under each month of the year. This should be done along with taking key notice of any major event such as examinations.

The reason for this is that you have to give yourself an appropriate amount of time to ensure that you achieve your goal while not infringing on critical events in your life.

The next thing to factor in when making this plan is how to constantly remind yourself of this. Too many times we write down our resolutions and we don't refer to them in the course of the year.

This is where assigning tasks to months come into play because for that month you will have a list and at the end of the month, you can then track your progress. This will in turn give you the momentum you need to complete the other tasks. Constant reminders place emphasis on how important it is to achieve these tasks because after all, they are for your sense of accomplishment and success.

Your mission this year could range from wanting to learn a new language to wanting to start your own company. As distant as these two tasks seem on the spectrum, they both require passion, enthusiasm, determination to succeed and most importantly, a plan.

Once you decide on a goal and a plan, the next crucial step is to be informed and know all that you can on the subject matter of your goal. This is important so that you can learn how others achieved it and also learn from the mistakes that they made along their journey to ultimate success.

TEENage would like you to know that nothing is impossible as long as you are passionate about it and also prepare yourself to do the work to make sure it is achieved. This year like any other year holds great promise for you and your personal development but this is for you to keep.

Our main words of advice are that in making these resolutions you take the time to make a plan so that you will know how to achieve them. If you're not sure of the steps to take you can always research it online or ask someone who not only knows but has your best interest at heart.

Personal development starts when you realise your potential and you do everything in your power to ensure that your potential does not go to waste.
