LAST Wednesday telecommunications provider LIME announced that Grammy award-winning Reggae artiste, Damian 'Junior Gong' Marley has signed on as their newest brand ambassador.
The announcement, which was made at a press conference at the Bob Marley Museum, finally came after an intrigued audience, made up of members of various local media houses, wondered why they had been mysteriously gathered at this 'hortical' setting.
LIME Chairman, Chris Dehring, who made the announcement, added that in addition to its association with the international Reggae star, LIME customers will also be the first to access a series of projects set to be released by the singer.
"There is no doubt that this will be a very special partnership. We are extremely pleased to announce that LIME customers across the region will be the first to hear new music, see exclusive content and follow Damian on his journey to producing his new album via our Internet and television portals," Dehring said.
Damian later took to the stage, expressing his satisfaction at the partnership, stating that LIME will be giving him an opportunity to connect with his fans in a unique way. "I am very pleased at the possibilities that exist through this partnership. It feels good, it feels like a new adventure that were on," Marley said.
In a further question-and-answer segment, Marley admitted that though some tracks have been recorded, work on the new album has just begun.
Later, in a post-press conference, private interview with TEENage, Marley stated that though he was focusing mostly on some singles, he is working with some great young talents trying to burst into the industry.
"The great young talents I've been working with are the next generation of artistes. Guys like Joe Mercer who is upcoming on the Ghetto Youth's Label, likewise a young artiste named Black Am I. I'm also working with Christopher Ellis, who is Alton Ellis' son. These are the artistes we are working with right now, and getting ready to promote in the streets."
LIME customers can access their exclusive content from the artiste through the special web portal designed especially for smart phones and other devices, http://limeportal.ogangi.com.
