By Chanbett, Miakalani &miSimBeachBabe

A triple threat to The Rock's run-of-the-mill swimwear and resortwears industry, this trio of designers are giving island girls several reasons to get all dressed up as much as one can for the beach, the pool, and — as Zimi seh— 'riva'. First up is Chantel Betton who weaves love letters to the 1970s using openwork crochet, then there is peer Simone Michelle Neilson whose reversible sorbet-hued bikinis and maillot leaves the wearer spoilt for choice from morning to evening dips, and Brittany Johnson remains focused on the tapestry of prints and tie details.

Shenna Carby

Crowned the inaugural winner of Keenea Linton's designer discovery TV show Mission Catwalk , proud Denham Town resident Shenna Carby commanded national adoration each week on screen with her fast-paced quips but moreso, her ability to smartly stitch womenswear garments that revealed a prodigious talent. Six years later, Carby still manages to maintain corporate types as loyal clients with designs that are all about clean finishes.

JohnEli DaCosta

Coming straight out of left field, JohnEli Dacosta's singular vision — a potent mix of Oriental-inspired yet ultra-modern silhouettes — was a breath of fresh air when the designing neophyte emerged publicly on the menswear scene merely a year ago. An architectural studies alum of the University of Technology, Jamaica, DaCosta taught himself to sew through online tutorials and immersing in books, and if his short but brillant opus thus far, is any indication of what's to come, consider us tickled by the fabulous possibilities.

Camille Bryan

A fine arts grad of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, Camille Bryan is serving haute couture with her Ruff Cutz label of sandals, geometric clutches and super-high heels, the latter of which she fancies “as over the top, and something that would be seen in museums or in music videos.”
