Jamaica's Waterhouse FC improved their chance of qualifying for the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League with a 2-0 win over Real Hope of Haiti in their FLOW Caribbean Club Championship yesterday at National Stadium East field.

Goals by Keithy Simpson and Stephen Williams in the 19th and 36th minutes, respectively, pushed Waterhouse FC to four points and provisionally top of the four-team group ahead of Portmore United, 1-0 winners over Real Hope on Sunday's opening day.

Portmore United were scheduled to play Capoise, who ended 2-2 with Waterhouse on Sunday, in the feature encounter last night.

Real Hope remained pointless at the bottom of the four-team group after suffering their second loss, thus ending any hopes of Champions League football. However, they could still qualify for the second-tier Concacaf League.

Waterhouse started the day badly in need of a win as Head Coach Marcel Gayle dropped playmaker Tramaine Stewart and strikers Rafeik Thomas and Andre McFarlane. They were replaced by Stephen Williams, Denardo Thomas and Andre Leslie.

Starting the brighter of the two, Waterhouse bagged the lead controversially as Keithy Simpson nodded home into an empty goal in the 19th minute after Real Hope players stopped playing when the assistant referee correctly flagged for offside. However, referee Jose Torres ignored his assistant and, amidst protests from the Haitians, the goal was allowed to stand.

Stephen Williams then beat the offside trap and calmly placed his shot wide of the advancing goalkeeper Valendi Odelus in the 36th minute.

Real Hope made life more difficult for themselves when they lost Captain Dune Blaise to a red card in minute 49.

Substitute Rafeik Thomas got a glorious chance to add his name on the scoresheet but kicked wide from well inside the six-yard box in the 90th minute.
