The $870,000 John Clifton Wright Memorial Cup, to be run in two sections, will highlight the 12-race programme at Caymanas Park today.

The John Clifton Wright feature is a native-bred three-year-old maiden special weight contest for fillies only going six furlongs (1,200 metres), with both sections attracting fields of 11 runners in each — drawn from amongst a promising pool of maidens, some of whom, for one reason or the other, have failed to progress sufficiently in a timely manner to be fully effective for earlier racing successes.

Section One is scheduled to go to post at 2:45 pm, Section Two at approximately 4:50 pm, with first post at 12:10 pm.

Added to the John Clifton Wright feature is a lively looking Open Allowance call highlighting the return to competitive racing of She's A Maneater. The 1,000 Guineas Classic winner was sidelined through injury while preparing for the Jamaica Oaks, and duly missed the three-year-old Classic going 10 furlongs (2,000 metres). She's A Maneater is expected to start favourite in the small field of six going a mile (1,600 metres) for a purse of $1.15 million.

While divisions one and two of the John Clifton Wright are well composed, Division Two, where Vice Royalty, Mirabilis, Nuclear Train, Bad Girl Hilary and Fear De Breeze will run, could prove the most competitive of the two sections, with the Gary Subratie-trained Vice Royalty and Mirabilis from the stables of Anthony Nunes taking pole position when this is being decided.

Vice Royalty, a bay by Bridled Quest out of the Sir Lal Bahadur mare Vice Press, bred by Trevor James and part-owned with Roall Silvera, is the most consistent performer among her pe ers. She ran a bit one pace when last at the races, but should be more alert among these and can now shed the maiden tag after slipping 2.0kg for Ameth Robles, who will climb aboard in place of Paul Francis.

Mirabilis is a little too inconsistent to be trusted, but her last run shows her to be in the heat of battle where it matters most, with the 2.0kg claim of the apprentice Dane Dawkins still in tact.

Section One should be anybody's quest, where Simply Outrageous and Ballerina Steel could decide the outcome, trainer Anthony Nunes has a serious say with his double-pronged attack of Aurelia's Summer and Diosa De Oro.

Biblical Legend from the stables of Gary Subratie could crowd the front runners with a late run to make her mark with 2.0kg claimer Bebeto Harvey replacing jockey Ameth Robles.
