SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — The finalists in both the ISSA/Freshhh Rural Area Under-14 and Under-16 competitions will be decided today, following the playing of the semi-finals at three venues.

St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) will host two games, against Garvey Maceo High in the Under-14 competition starting at 1:30 pm, and in the Under-16 competition against Vere Technical, starting at 3:00 pm.

Defending all-island Under-14 champions Cornwall College will face long-time rivals Rusea's High at Rusea's, set to kick off at 3:00 pm.

The winners will advance to the final set for Friday at Manchester High.

The semi-finals were decided on Monday after the playing of two quarter-final games in the Under-14 and a play-off between Glenmuir High and Herbert Morrison in the Under-16 competition.

Rusea's High are the only school in the Under-14 semi-finals with a perfect record in the quarter-finals after beating Munro College 2-1 at Munro on Monday, despite finishing the game with 10 players when a player was sent off in the first half.

They topped Zone Two with maximum nine points following earlier wins over Glenmuir High, and Garvey Maceo High scoring nine goals in the three games.

Cornwall College only made it back to the semi-finals after STETHS came from behind to draw 1-1 with Old Harbour, who needed to win by two clear goals to edge the defending champions for second place in Zone One.

STETHS won the zone with seven points after earlier beating Cornwall College 2-1, ending their unbeaten run that started last year, and edging Lennon High 1-0.

Cornwall College came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Lennon and edged Old Harbour 1-0.

Meanwhile, Glenmuir High beat Herbert Morrison Technical 2-0 in a play-off at St Elizabeth Technical Sports Complex on Monday to book their place in the Under-16 semi-finals.

Both schools had ended the quarter-final round tied on points, goals for and goals against, and the organisers scheduled the play-offs to decide the second-placed team.
