Dunbeholden took a giant step towards Red Stripe Premier League safety with a 3-0 win over a Reno FC team on the verge of relegation.

The promoted Dunbeholden, who spent most of the season in the relegation zone, climbed a spot to eighth on 32 points, while Reno stayed at the bottom on 23 points with only three games remaining.

Deanandre Thomas grabbed a brace, opening the scoring in the fourth minute, then doubling the advantage from the penalty spot in minute 50 for his eighth goal of the season. Demario Phillips put the icing on the cake, firing home a low-grounder in the 58th minute.

The Portmore-based Dunbeholden, in their very first season in top flight football, are now five points above the relegation zone, after Montego Bay United were left on 27 points following defeat to Arnett Gardens.

Former champions Harbour View (28 points) and Humble Lion (31 points) were locked at 0-0 at half-time in their late kick-off at Compound.

Reno's pathetic performance on the day is a mirror of their poor season which saw them going winless in their last 10 games, including seven defeats.

Meanwhile, at Wespow Park, goals by Zhelano Barnes (17th) and Jamiel Hardware (81st) propelled Arnett Gardens to a 2-1 win over Montego Bay United, which moved them into fifth spot while consolidating their play-off position with 44 points.

Dino Williams had scored for Montego Bay United in the 64th minute, but they remained in danger of relegation, sitting in 11th spot on 27 points.

Mount Pleasant FA stayed in third spot on 51 points after battling to a 0-0 draw with Cavalier FC, who remained in fourth spot on 50 points. Both teams are already into the play-offs.
