13 schools score second-straight wins in ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup
GREEN POND, St James — Former champions Cornwall College extended an impressive winning streak against Green Pond High scoring their 13th-straight win at Green Pond after yesterday's 2-0 victory in their ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup Zone A first-round game.
Aiden Jokomba scored both goals for Cornwall College as they joined St James High at the top of the points table with two wins each after St James edged Irwin High 2-1.
Green Pond ended the game with 10 players after Anthony Crooks was sent off in the second half.
Cornwall College have never dropped a single point at Green Pond since 2008 and have scored 37 goals over the streak, conceding just four and have scored 17 goals in their last four games, with five each coming in their previous three trips.
Former national player now coach Hector Wright got his first win at Anchovy High after they edged Maldon High 2-1.
Twelve other teams, including four former winners, scored back-to-back victories to start the season.
Defending champions Rusea's High will go for their second win today when they travel to face Cambridge High in one of three games set for Zone B as a total of 14 games are down to be contested.
Rusea's High swept past Green Island High 4-0 on Saturday and face a Cambridge High team which they have dominated the last few years, and so another three points look to be in the offing.
