Champions Wolmer's Prep kick-started their Jamaica Independent Schools' Association (JISA)/Tastee Limited Prep Schools Alberga Cup title defence on a positive note, defeating visitors Glenmuir Prep 4-1 on Saturday.

Two goals from Zion Simms, and one each from Shakir Bell and Damion Hines, gave Wolmer's Prep a comfortable victory, much to the delight of head coach Norman Leveridge.

“I spoke to the players at half-time and told them to relax, and made a few positional changes and the goals began to come. It is also a good win for the team, [though] they could have won by a wider margin,” Leveridge said.

Last year's beaten finalist Emmanuel Christian Academy tagged Portmore Missionary 2-0, courtesy of first-half goals from Ryland Sampson.

St Andrew Prep registered the widest margin of victory with an 11-0 trouncing of Tomlinson Christian Academy in a Zone One encounter at St Andrew Prep playing field, while Glowell Prep drubbed Phoenix Academy 6-0 at the American International School of Kingston (AISK) field.

Sts Peter and Paul got by New Horizon 3-1 and Hillel Academy tagged Alevrnia Prep 2-0, also in Zone One action.

Over in Zone Three, Trafalgar Christian Prep blanked Praise Tabernacle Christian Academy 4-0, St Hugh's Prep were 4-2 winners over The Queens Prep 4-2, while Stella Maris Prep and Quest Prep played out a 2-2 stalemate. Vaz Prep and Our Lady of the Angels ended goalless.

AISK took pole position in Zone Four with a 3-0 win over Black River Prep, with Hydel Prep and St John The Baptist scoring 2-0 victories over Morris Knibb Prep and St Catherine Prep, respectively.

The top two teams in each group, along with the best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals round, where they will be divided into three groups of four.
