THERE are times when a game gets hyped in pre-match discussions but fail to live up to expectations. The Sunday night encounter between the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs delivered as promised.

Patriots Quarterback (QB) Tom Brady squared up against the Chiefs' young gunslinger Patrick Mahomes and, as advertised, a shoot-out ensued. Mahomes and the contingent from Kansas City, despite tasting defeat for the first time this season, went toe to toe with their hosts and kept the New England faithful on the edge of their seats up to the very last play of the game.

The high-scoring encounter finished 43-40 and set the stage for two highly anticipated games this Sunday when the Patriots (4-2) and the Chiefs (5-1) face off against the Chicago Bears (3-2) and Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) respectively.

The Patriots are looking stronger as the weeks go by, but the defensive prowess of Khalil Mack and the rest of the Bears are expected to bring their A-game and do enough to slow them down in Week 7.

The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Bengals in their own house last Sunday and this week the Cincinnati team visit Kansas City for what is shaping up to be another losing effort.

On a weekend that featured some exciting games, the final game of Week 6 proved to be a classic nail-biter. The San Francisco 49ers had every intention to register their 49th Monday Night Football win, but the cool, calculated, last-minute execution of Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers put an end to that fantasy. After trailing for most of the game and with the game tied 30-30 under a minute to go with no timeouts, Rodgers clinically marched the Packers' offence forward to set up Mason Crosby for a 27-yard, game-winning field goal as time expired on the clock.

The only team in the league yet to taste defeat through six weeks is the LA Rams (6-0) who outlasted the Denver Broncos (2-4) on Sunday for a 23-20 victory in the high altitude of Colorado. They will visit the San Francisco 49ers (1-5) this week who, after making a valiant effort on Monday night, should also lose this one in a close, keenly-contested encounter. The Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3) play hosts to the Houston Texans (3-3) early Sunday afternoon in a critical AFC clash. The Jaguars were dismal last week against the Dallas Cowboys, but should take advantage of home field and emerge with a 4-3 record.

The Minnesota Vikings (3-2-1) and Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) showed the NFL that they have an appetite for victory last weekend and should again feed this appetite come Sunday when they face the New York Jets (3-3) and Carolina Panthers (3-2) respectively.

The Jets handily defeated the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6, but should find the going tough against a Minnesota team that is improving each week. The Panthers trek to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles this Sunday but appear to be heading downhill fast. Their lacklustre performance against the Washington Redskins last weekend has instilled little confidence in their ability to get past the reigning champions in Week 7.

Following their Week 6 escapade, JustBet has increased the New England Patriots stock (only slightly to $6.50), but not enough to unseat the frontrunner. The LA Rams remain the JustBet favourites at $3.75, while the Kansas City Chiefs, after impressing in their Sunday night loss, have slipped to the third spot at $7.50. The New Orleans Saints have quietly established a 4-1 record with very little fanfare (except for their record-setting QB Drew Brees) and still enjoy the fourth-favourite spot at $8.50.

The JustBet suite of betting options on NFL games continues to offer very attractive odds from the very basic WIN or DRAW to the more exotic MARGIN OF VICTORY. Visit one of the over 100 locations and place your bets on the prediction of your choice for maximum winnings.
