US journalist for Gibson Relays' technical corner

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

ESPN-TV commentator Larry Rawson will be the special guest presenter in the Gibson Relays Technical Corner set for the GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sport tomorrow evening, starting at six o'clock.

The four-time Emmy award winner has commentated on track and field and marathons since 1980 and has also commentated on four World Championships in Athletics, six Olympic Games, as well as 34 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships for ESPN and CBS.

The Boston College Hall of Famer and graduate in marketing and finance was inducted into Running USA's Hall of Fame in 2008 and received a Penn Relays Lifetime Achievement Award last year.

He has also been inducted into the New York Athletic Club Hall of Fame "for contribution to track and field."

Rawson was a lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps and served in combat during the Vietnam War. He also was an All-Marine track and field champion and competed internationally for the USA.

Gatorade will also present a nutrition clinic during tomorrow's technical corner.

Meanwhile, tickets for Saturday's Gibson Relays will go on sale starting tomorrow at the turnstile at the National Stadium.

Grandstand tickets cost $1200 for the finish line and $900 while Bleachers tickets will go for $200 each.
