US/ Jamaica showdown in 4x100m relay final

KINGSTON, Jamaica — United States took command of Heat 2 of the relay winning in a national record  37.38 seconds, just ahead of Jamaica’s 37.39 in Heat 1.

The US, anchored by 100m bronze medalist Justin Gatlin, beat Japan (38.07, a season’s best) into second while Trinidad and Tobago was third (38.10).

Teams with the fastest losing times are France and Australia, both qualifying for the final.
