St George's conquer Wolmer's in Urban TT league

As the ISSA Table Tennis competition continued on Thursday with the playing of six Urban matches, St George's beat hosts Wolmer's Boys in both categories.

In the Under-19 encounter, St George's won 4-1, while their Under-16s blanked Wolmer's 5-0 in double-headers.

In the other double-header, visitors Norman Manley blanked newcomers Ascot 3-0 in girls Under-16 and 5-0 in boys Under-16. Also, dfending champions Kingston College drubbed Jamaica College 5-0 in boys Under-16 and Hillel blanked defending champions Campion 5-0 in boys Under-16.

After this result in boys Under-19 competition, KC and St George's are tied atop the standings on 14 points each, ahead of Wolmer's Boys 10 points and Hillel five points. St George's and Wolmer's have completed their fixtures, while KC and Ascot have one match remaining against each other. The top two finishers will contest the final.

In boys Under-16 Group One, St Jago and KC lead the standings with 14 points apiece, followed by Norman Manley 11, JC eight points and Ascot seven. KC have played all their matches, while the other teams have one match each left to play.

In boys Under-16 Group Two, Hillel are on top with 15 points, ahead of St George's on 12 points, Wolmer's and Gaynstead 10 points each, and Campion on seven points. Hillel have completed their fixtures, while the rest of teams each have a match to play.

The top-three teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.

There will be a break in action next week with play due to return on Monday, March 27, with Urban matches.
