A brace from standout Kamille Griffiths and a fifth-minute strike from Simone Gardener helped St Andrew High retain their Under-19 Schoolgirl Hockey title with a 3-0 win over Papine High at Mona yesterday.
Griffiths ended the competition as joint-leading scorer with 12 goals (along with Alpha Academy's Shannar White).
Gardener struck her sixth goal of the season to unsettle Papine as St Andrew clinched the U-19 title without conceding a goal for the second year in a row.
In the 12th minute Griffiths struck to put St Andrew 2-0 up leading into the break.
"We played excellent, these girls were better than last year and we found the formula to win," said coach Dr Michelle Holt
Papine's coach Andrea Hoo-Thomas conceded that the better team won against her inexperienced team.
Earlier, Alpha Academy, with a double from Jhanell Jones, whipped Excelsior 4-0.
Today at 4:00 pm, defending champions Jamaica College tackle Black River for the Under-19 Schoolboy title, after Excelsior meet Mona for third place at 2:30 pm.
