KC, Muschett score wins in schools basketball

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Kingston College and Muschett High were winners on Monday as the ISSA/KFC all island high school boys basketball play-offs continued with a double header at the Montego Bay Cricket Club.

Kingston College had things easy against Spot Valley High, winning their Under-19 game 76-31 behind 26 points from Clifton Jean, while Muschett turned back St Jago High 77-65 in their Under-16 game.

Spot Valley were always playing catch up as they failed to score more than nine points in any quarter and trailed 9-25 after the first period.

Kingston College were up 42-14 at half-time and 56-23 after the third quarter.

Damion Johnson also scored 24 points for the winners, while Delton Clarke scored 11 points for the St James school.

Muschett trailed St Jago 15-21 after the first quarter but rallied in the second quarter to narrow the gap to one point, 32-33, before a big third quarter took them to the front 67-55.

Four players scored in double figures for the winners — Karlington Barrett scored 23 points and had 21 rebounds as well as five blocked shots; Michael Schloss scored 13 points, O'Brian Clarke scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds, while Alston Billings scored 12 points.

Rashaun Dawkins scored a game-high 30 points for St Jago, while Xavier Bromfield scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
