KINGSTON, Jamaica — American Allyson Felix won Heat 2 of the women’s 200m semi final today, thrashing a field which included Sherone Simpson, who finished a distant sixth.

"It was good. I just wanted to run a good 120 (metres) and then see how I feel. I feel good and excited. I've spent a long time waiting for this moment, I just wanna execute, that's what it's all about.," Felix said.

"I just want to put one race together at a time," she added.

Felix cruised to 22.31 to beat Murielle Ahoure of Ivory Coast (22.49) into second.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Semoy Hackett was third in 22.55.
