Duanvale end first round on sour note

DUANVALE, Trelawny — Leaders and mid-season qualifier Duanvale FC ended their first round schedule in the Trelawny Football Association's National Rums of Jamaica Major League on a sour note, going down to an upset loss to mid-table Prospect Links at home on Saturday.

Despite their first loss of the season, Duanvale FC held on to the lead in the points table, but on goal difference over second-place Holland United, who were winners on Saturday.

Both teams, who will meet in the mid-season play-off, ended the first round on 26 points each from 11 games, but Duanvale FC have the slightly better goal differential of 13 to Holland United's 10.

At Duanvale, Kadeem Fairweather's 30th-minute strike gave Prospect Links their fifth win, but they remained in sixth place on 17 points, same as Jackson Town who have a game in hand.

Holland United drew level with Duanvale FC on points with a 2-0 win over Spicy Hill at Davis Pen with goals from Ronique Cole in the 38th minute and Ernesto Barrett in the 73rd minute.

In the other game on Saturday, Clarks Town continued to move upwards with a 2-1 win over Exidos So Fresh at Friendship.

Dwayne Brown and Novel White struck in a manner of seconds around the 17th minute to give Clarks Town a 2-0 lead before Hoshane Hunter pulled one back for the home team in the 50th minute.
