'Blacka' Boyd makes comeback in Super League

WALTER Boyd yesterday returned to competitive football after more than two years out of the game, coming on as a substitute for Mountain View and inspiring them to a 4-1 win over Rae Town in a KSAFA Super League match at Excelsior.

Ricardo Reid netted a hat-trick for Mountain View and Andrew Morrison the other goal, while Stephen Squire scored for Rae Town.

However, it was the former Reggae Boyz star who stole the show after coming of the bench in the second-half. The tricky left-footer did not score and appeared a bit sluggish, but he showed some deft touches and influenced the flow of play after entering the field of play.

According to coach Baris Johnson, the 'Pearl' should be back to match fitness shortly and will be even more dangerous then.

In other results, Cavalier stopped Olympic Gardens, 1-0; August Town edged Greenwich Town, 3-2; Santos drew 1-1 with Constant Spring; Duhaney Park and Rockfort also drew 1-1, while UWI beat Barbican, 1-0.

Cavalier have now stretched their lead to four points, with Rae Town second on 23 despite the loss. However, Mountain View cut Rae Town's advantage to a point and are on 22.
