Soca connoisseurs received a wonderful treat as they cavorted on Braywick Road, Jacks Hill, in the Frenchmen street jam BLOCKO.

Dr Michael Banbury, and colleagues Tony Campbell and Ian Wong — the titular Frenchmen — and their sponsors spared no expense in staging this year's event, hosting a coterie of international acts including soca queen Alison Hinds, Bunji Garlin and wife Fay-Ann Lyons, and local spark plug Chi Ching Ching.

The turntables were manned by Back to Basics, DJ Delano from Renaissance, DJ Ryan and 2016 Red Bull Thre3style World Champion DJ Puffy from Barbados, among others.

The cross-generation socaphiles enjoyed a mix of styles and vibes, savoured an array of eats and drinks and sweated as they fêted to fledgling hits as well as classics. Saturday Social squeezed through to bring you vignettes of Thursday night's jam-packed soirée.
