Chairman & Managing Director of ARC Manufacturing Ltd Norman Horne was awarded the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander on Monday, October 15 for his “contribution to entrepreneurship and community development”. In the evening, Horne hosted a cocktail reception at the Spanish Court's Worthington to celebrate his conferment with family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers. Horne is deeply respected and this was conveyed by the numerous attendees, the 10 toasts that were delivered and the fact that the prime minister and his wife were in attendance.

If you were to walk into the Worthington unaware of the event you'd immediately know that Horne was hosting and would think that he was a celebrity. Decked out in a white and black tuxedo and permanently trailed by a retinue of photographers, Horne was the centre of attention. He walked around the Worthington and personally greeted each guest, thanking them for taking the time to celebrate with him.

During a video tribute, family members and ARC employees spoke of Horne's compassion, drive, fiscal responsibility, commitment and passion. Hearing of ARC beginnings as a small five- staff-member-run zinc sheeting manufacturer in 1996 and seeing it now stand on 18 acres of land and employ over 300 individuals is indeed a testament to Horne's leadership and careful stewardship. Congratulations, Norman Horne, on this well-deserved accolade.
