JPS takes spotlight in Expo 2017 Industry Showcases

Thursday, October 12, 2017

MONTEGO BAY, St James - The final in the series of Expo 2017 Industry Showcases by the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) was held at the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) power plant at Bogue in Montego Bay last Thursday.

The event focused on the energy sector and the role JPS was playing in leading the charge on renewable energy and insight into the conversion of the plant into an LNG facility.

Guests were given guided tours of the facility and information on the scope of operations at the facility.

The industry showcase series afforded companies an opportunity to highlight their products or services in their respective industries. Over the period, the showcases highlighted industry players in entertainment at the iconic brand of Hard Rock Café in Montego Bay; business process outsourcing at the newly opened Itel-BPO centre; and tourism at the historic Rose Hall Great House. The highly successful initiatives were also part of the promotional activities in the lead-up to the highly anticipated 17th staging of the Expo.

Expo 2017 will officially open tomorrow at the Montego Bay Convention Centre by newly appointed Ambassador of Spain to Jamaica Josep Maria Bosch Bessa. The event will run for three days, concluding on Sunday, October 15, and will feature seminars and exhibits from Jamaica's leading companies across several industries.

The expo has attracted a wide range of sponsors including the Jamaica Observer.
