MONTEGO BAY, St James - Montegonians turned out last Friday evening at the Old Hospital Park, Gloucester Avenue, to support the 'Day of Love' celebration, staged by the I Love MoBay Foundation.

Embracing the initiative aimed at showcasing the possibility of positive impact of the city, more than 80 per cent of the supporters who turned out, donned their red #ilovemobay shirts.

Addressing the gathering, executive director of the foundation, T'Shura Gibbs, said the initiative was cemented, among other things, on the firm pillars of education, mentorship, sports, awareness, entertainment and culture.

Another important component of the initiative is the inculcation of civic pride, she added.

Gibbs also used the opportunity to commend the sponsors who have together committed some $5 million towards the project.

She, however, noted that innovative ways have been developed for its sustenance.

“We don't want to keep going back to corporate (Jamaica) to beg. So this foundation will sustain itself, and so we are going to be selling memorabilia. So you have already started to buy the 'T-shirts and I know they were sold out. We went back three times to the press. We know the businesses purchased the shirts and we saw the pictures over social media,” Gibbs noted.
