Class four boys now able to run longer distances

SAV LA MAR, Westmoreland — Boys contesting Class 4 at the County of Cornwall Athletics Association's (COCAA) Western Championships, set for mid-February 2019, will have the option of running the middle-distance events, the 800m and the 1500m.

The addition of the events was confirmed at the COCAA meeting on Friday, held at Godfrey Stewart High in Savanna-la-Mar. However, the athletes will only be allowed to run one of the events as well as the 4x100m relay or a field event in the class.

Western Champs will be staged February 12-16.

The 2018-19 season is set to get underway on November 16 with the staging of the Cross-country championships to be hosted by Petersfield High in Westmoreland with a starting time of 10:00 am.

The First Chance Meet, usually hosted by Herbert Morrison Technical has been moved to the Montego Bay Sports Complex on January 5.
