Supreme Ventures names new chairmanSaturday, November 11, 2017
LEADING gaming company Supreme Ventures Limited announced yesterday that W David McConnell has been appointed as its new board chairman.
McConnell, who was appointed to the SVL board on Tuesday of this week, is co-managing director and co-founder of Select Brands Limited, a leading wines and spirits company in Jamaica. He also sits on the boards of Scotia Investments Jamaica Limited and IronRock Insurance Company Limited, among others.
“We are pleased to have David as chairman of the SVL board. We are confident that under his experienced leadership, the company will continue to grow exponentially. The entire company stands ready to support him as we work together for SVL's success,” said Ian Levy, SVL deputy chairman who had been acting as chairman of the company since November 4 when former chairman, Paul Hoo, resigned.
“We warmly welcome our new chairman and are looking forward to working with him and the board to continue building the Supreme Ventures Group,” said Ann-Dawn Young Sang, recently appointed president and CEO of SVL.
Former SVL Chairman Paul Hoo announced his resignation two weeks after the media reported a $2.9-billion buy-out of the SVL shares by Zodiac International Investments & Holdings Limited, and Mayberry West Indies Limited.
This was followed by a request from Mayberry West Indies for an extraordinary general meeting to pass a resolution to remove seven members of the then board, including Hoo. Five board members have since resigned and have been replaced.
