BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) — Police are investigating the deaths of two people who were shot on Sunday night in the parish of St Phillip, at the easternmost end of the island.

“Anything that you have heard, anything that you know, however small, we are appealing to people to let us know what is going on,” Acting Police Inspector Rodney Innis said.

The police said that the body of 52-year-old Betty Mayers and her son, 32-year-old Jamal Mayers, were found at their home, and that they are investigating reports that two masked men were seen at a house in the community.

“We are still at the stage carrying out intensive and sensitive investigations, and we are appealing to residents who might have seen something or heard something to kindly let us know,” Innis said.

The police said they had no motive for the killings.

So far this year, 18 people have been murdered here since Januray 1.
