MANDEVILLE, Manchester — The Manchester Police have linked the shooting of five men in Three Chains on Saturday to gang conflict.

Twenty-year-old Matthew Johnson and Damion Britton, 36, from the community succumbed to their injuries.

Police say two of the men were treated in hospital and released while another is still admitted.

Reports are that in late morning on Saturday, the men were at a playfield in the community of Three Chains preparing for an entertainment event, when gunmen pulled up in a motor car and started firing.

The men were hit and the gunmen fled the scene.

The police have identified one of the men who was treated in hospital and released as Rohan “Boomhead” Smiley, the alleged leader of a gang in the community of Grey Ground, which adjoins Three Chains.

He is on bail for matters now before the court.

It is unclear if he was the target of the shooting.

No one is in custody following the shooting incident.
