Principal of Merl Grove High School Dr Marjorie Fullerton (right) looks proudly at her charges — members of the classes of 1983 and 1984 — as they march up to receive their school leaving certificates at a special graduation ceremony Saturday evening at Karram-Speid Auditorium on Constant Spring Road, St Andrew.

The event was organised to bring closure to a 35-year grievance against the school which had abruptly cancelled the graduation ceremony for both years after misbehaviour by a few girls at a school barbeque.

The girls, now turned women, contended that they were unfairly punished for the misdeeds of a few. See tomorrow's Jamaica Observer for the full story by award-winning journalist Desmond Allen, executive editor- special assignment.
