Accused baby thief appears in court Monday

Friday, February 15, 2019

THE woman accused of snatching a day-old baby from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston last month is expected to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Monday.

Twenty-seven- year-old Peta-Gay French, a resident of Harkers Hall, St Catherine, was charged with child stealing late Monday evening.

French was arrested last Tuesday after she went to the Registrar General's Department in Twickenham Park, St Catherine, in an attempt to have the baby registered.

Officials at the department grew suspicious after noticing discrepancies with the documents she submitted.

A DNA test later confirmed that the baby belonged to Sinclair Hutton and Suzzett Whyte, whose baby was snatched from the Victoria Jubilee Hospital on January 9.

The one-month-old boy was on Friday reunited with his parents.
