MANCHESTER, Jamaica - The Manchester police have identified a man killed in the parish on Tuesday as Wayne Anthony Brown.

Thirty-nine year old Brown was from a Bucks Common address in May Pen, Clarendon.

He was reportedly killed during a shootout with police at about 6:00am in Montpelier, on the border of Manchester and South East St Elizabeth.

Police alleged that that they were on operation in the area when a Silver Nissan motorcar in which Brown was travelling with other occupants was signalled to stop.

The occupants, however, opened fire on the police and the fire was returned.

Brown was later found suffering from gunshot wounds while his cronies escaped in bushes.

He was pronounced dead at the Mandeville Regional Hospital.

Items of clothing and brand new motor vehicle tyres were found in the vehicle, the police said.

Investigation continues.
