Three injured in Mandela crash
Wednesday, February 06, 2013
THERE were tense moments on the Mandela Highway in St Catherine yesterday as passersby worked hard to remove the driver and two passengers who were pinned down in a truck following a collision with another truck.
The three were taken to hospital by police after residents of the nearby Ferry Lane and two policemen pried them from the mangled cabin of the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses said the three were pinned down for approximately 30 minutes.
After the men were freed, however, some of the good Samaritans then turned villains and began to loot bottles of cooking oil from one of the trucks.
But the looting was short-lived when the police arrived on the scene.
