Teacher charged for carnal abuse

KINGSTON, Jamaica — A male teacher at a prominent primary school in the Corporate Area has been arrested and charged for carnal abuse.
According to reports from the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) the 35-year-old teacher allegedly had sexual intercourse with an 11-year-old student multiple times between October 2008 and February 2010.
The matter was reported to the school’s Guidance Counselor, who referred the matter to CISOCA.
An investigation was launched and the teacher arrested on January 13 this year. He appeared in court and was remanded in custody.
He is scheduled to reappear before the Half-Way-Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court on February 20th.
