KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Police High Command has dispelled speculations that the recent murders of two employees of the Central Sorting Office are connected.

In late August the bodies of Deputy Chief of Security at the Postal Department Barrington Davis and colleague Patricia Barnswell were reported missing from Davis' St John's Heights home in St Catherine.

Their bodies were found in a cane field at Innswood in the parish in September and autopsies revealed that they died as a result of gunshot wounds.

Davis' stolen motorcar was recovered in St James.

Weeks later the charred body of public relations executive at the Postal Service, Tandy Lewis, was found with a piece of rope tied around her neck on the Port Royal Road.

Lewis was identified after a DNA test was conducted.

She was four months pregnant.

Speaking at a press conference at the Police Officers Club on Hope Road In St Andrew Wednesday morning, Senior Superintendent Wilford Gayle, head of the Criminal Investigation Branch said police investigations revealed that the murders were in no way related.

“So far and I want to emphasise so far our investigation have not established any connection with the murder of Mr Barrington Davis and Ms Patricia Barnswell, Ms Tandy Lewis or anything relating to their job," he said.

Gayle said two persons are now in custody in connection with the murders of Davis and Barnswell and are expected to be charged soon.

However no breakthrough has yet been made in connection with Lewis' killing.
