Phone thief on bail
Friday, August 17, 2012
A teenager who reportedly held up a man with a knife and stole his BlackBerry Torch smartphone was offered $100,000 bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
Eighteen-year-old Dwayne Woodster, of a downtown Kingston address, was offered bail by Magistrate Georgianna Fraser after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of robbery with aggravation.
The conditions of his bail are to report to the City Centre Police Station and to observe a 6am - 8pm curfew order.
According to the police report, the complainant was walking in South Parade in downtown Kingston on July 14 when Woodster held a knife at his throat and grabbed his cellular phone — valued at $30,000 — and ran.
The complainant quickly reported the matter to police who were on patrol in the area and Woodster was held after being identified by the complainant.
