KINGSTON, Jamaica - Between1000 and 1500 customers of the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) are still without electricity three weeks after losing power due to Hurricane Sandy.

Restoration efforts continue in the hard-hit parishes of St Mary, St Thomas and Portland with some “mopping up” work being done in St Andrew, the electricity distributor said.

Hurricane Sandy hit Jamaica as a Category 1 system on October 24.

One death has been linked to the storm here.
