Observer 'Obama' front page among world's top 10
WEDNESDAY'S front page of the Jamaica Observer, featuring US President Barack Obama on his re-election, has been featured among the 10 best global front pages by international magazine Foreign Policy.
The feature, which was posted Wednesday on the magazine's website — foreignpolicy.com — describes the selection as "front pages... from around the world that you won't want to miss".
"Checking out how presidential elections play on the front pages of US newspapers — and stowing away those papers for posterity — is a favourite pastime of American politics (and a reminder of why some news is still best conveyed in old-fashioned newsprint). But news outlets in other countries also produce some gems," the feature, which was posted by Uri Friedman, read.
The other front pages making the top 10 are:
* De Standard (Belgium)
* Politiken (Denmark)
* The Daily Star (Lebanon)
* Liberation (France)
* Die Press (Austria)
* Die Welt (Germany)
* Calgary Sun( Canada)
* The Guardian (Britain)
* Deccan Chronicle (India)
