Saturday, September 22, 2012 | 9:12 AM
MEXICO CITY (AP)- An earthquake shook parts of southern Mexico on Saturday, causing buildings to sway gently in the capital but causing no immediate reports of damage.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck at 7:30 am (8:30 EDT; 1230 GMT) with a magnitude of 5.4. It was centred about 16 miles (25 kilometres) north of Pinotepa Nacional, a city near the Pacific Coast, and about 210 miles (340 kilometres) south-southeast of Mexico City.
Mexico's national seismology service initially calculated the magnitude of the quake as 5.8 and said it was centred southwest of Pinotepa Nacional.
