I have lost my fire says Melanie
Monday, August 06, 2012 | 4:00 PM
KINGSTON, Jamaica- 400m hurdler Melaine Walker told reporters in London today that she has lost her fire.
The outgoing Olympic champion finished fourth in her heat, and failed to move forward to the semi finals.
"I can't tell, obviously I don't really like the weather but the weather was not it. It was just a bad day. I don't know what happened, I'm not feeling the fire anymore," she said.
Walker said she prepared well for the event but, "Sometimes things come in my mind which I can't explain, this was just a bad day."
This is not the last time we will be seeing Walker however, as she still has her sights set on a world record.
"There are plenty more finals for me to do big. The only thing left for me to do is to set the world record, which can be done on another day. There is plenty of disappointment in this sport, some athletes can finish the race injured, but I am very happy to be here."
