Guard shot dead at Riverton

Saturday, November 24, 2012

A security guard assigned to the city's dump at Riverton in St Andrew was yesterday shot and killed by a gunman.

He has been identified as Valentine Reid, an employee of Quest Security Services.

Reid, who had apparently left his post to call the police as well as inform Jamaica Defence Force soldiers stationed nearby about the theft of fuel at the site, was ambused and shot. He died on the spot.

The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), which operates the dump, yesterday sent condolences to the family and colleagues of the late guard .
