Fire causes $500m damage at Thermo Plastics

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Fire of unknown origin destroyed a section of the Omni Industries Limited and Flexpak compound in Twickenham Park, St Catherine early Saturday morning.
Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that about 3:45am an employee saw fire coming from a section of the premises and alerted the Police and Fire Department.
Units from the Spanish Town, Portmore and Old Harbour fire stations extinguished the blaze.
Loss is estimated at J$500 million. The property was insured.
The Spanish Town Police are investigating.
