KINGSTON, Jamaica - Government’s traffic ticket amnesty has ended but the police have decided to give motorists another two weeks to make good on outstanding fines.
"The amnesty system has ended but we (the police) will be relaxing prosecution on motorists who would fall under the amnesty system," said head of the Traffic division Radcliffe Lewis.
Lewis said that during this time police will be using their discretion and emphasised that the extension applies only to tickets issued before September 2010.
He warned that after the two-week period the police would again intensify their clamp down on delinquent motorists.
