Cop shot in St Thomas

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police personnel in St Thomas have been put on alert after a colleague was shot and injured last night.

The policeman was attacked and shot by gunmen at Lloyd’s Pen in the parish around 11:25pm.

He was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital and later transferred to another hospital for further treatment.

Last night’s shooting of the cop follows several death threats to the members of the division.

The police say that the threats have been in response to the division’s increased anti-gang measures over the last year.

Officers, especially those in the Bull Bay area, are asked to be extremely cautious on and off duty.
