KINGSTON, Jamaica — Detectives from the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) charged a member of the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) with two counts of breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act over the weekend.
He has been identified as Constable Alteman Hare who was assigned to the St Catherine North Division.
Reports are that over the Christmas holidays, Hare was conducting traffic duties in the Linstead area of St Catherine when he allegedly stopped a Canadian motorist and demanded that a sum of money be paid or the vehicle would be seized. The complainant reportedly paid the sum and then proceeded on his journey.
The matter was later reported to the ACB and an investigation launched.
Hare is scheduled to appear before the Linstead Resident Magistrate’s Court later today.
