Communities want more police patrols

By KIMMO MATTHEWS Observer staff reporter matthewsk@jamaicaobserver.com

RESIDENTS of Esquiville Villa and Rhoden Pen, communities close to Old Harbour in St Catherine, are calling for police to increase their presence in the communities.

“For years the community has been plagued with robberies and praedial larceny," said Denver Moss, a Rhoden Pen resident.

Moss claimed that the response from the police to their calls is always slow.

The residents said they are also concerned that police do not place enough focus on minor crimes.

"Right now the police are quicker to come in the area if they hear about shootings but other crimes like praedial larceny they fail to respond to," said Smithie, a resident of Esquiville Villa.
