THE Rio Cobre fish kill case against mining company WINDALCO has hit a snag.
The case, brought against the company by the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) was put off in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court earlier this week until April 3. This, after NEPA said it needed time to deal with administrative matters in relation to the case.
WINDALCO is being prosecuted for allegedly breaching the Natural Resources Conservation Authority Act and the Wildlife Protection Act. The charges relate to the alleged unauthorised release of improperly treated trade effluent in the Rio Cobre in St Catherine, which led to a fish kill on July 29 last year.
