Cops search for man who killed wife, child, sister-in-law
Tuesday, March 20, 2012PARAMARIBO, Suriname, (CMC) - Police have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly killed three people including his wife and an eight-year-old child over the weekend.
Police believe that the murders may have stemmed from a domestic dispute and has said that the suspect’s estranged wife, Ursila Peroti and her sister Irma Peroti and her eight-year-old daughter Kimberly were killed on Saturday night.
Police Chief, Humphrey Tjin Liep Shie, who visited the scene, said the woman had been making reports to the police since last October.
He said that even though the man had been arrested he was later released and Tjin Liep Shie said there is need for closer cooperation between social services and the judiciary on domestic abuse.
The police said that a neighbour made the gruesome discovery on Sunday after spotting one of the bodies by the roadside.
“We should have expected something like this to happen. This man is crazy. This couple was always fighting...the man was beating up the wife,” the unidentified neighbour told reporters.
