Caterer Lorraine Fung hosted a Stew Peas Plus Tuesday last at her Kirkland Heights home as a pre-wedding dinner gift for friends and (now newly-weds) Sacha Shaw and David Cuthbert. Fung, who is among the caterers participating in the Jamaica Observer's Salut! Order In, told Thursday Food that Stew Peas Plus is not a one-off occasion, but rather something she has been doing for several years. "The idea of Stew Peas plus is a family tradition really; the kids love stew peas and so while they were growing up we would have stew peas every Tuesday," Fung, said. After a while, the caterer said, the children would invite their friends and for those who didn't eat stew peas, there would be other items on the menu to suit them. Fung who beamed as she saw her children walking in, said, "Once the kids are on the island, Stew Peas Plus continues." Thursday Food shares highlights from the Stew Peas Plus event.
