SOS Etiquette - October 20

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Dear SOS, I am forced to ask why guests, whether at all-inclusive hotels, the Market Place or fancy restaurants like that at the Terra Nova All-Suite hotel, love to ask the waiters to wrap things up in foil. Don't get me wrong, I have often been tempted to want to enjoy an extra piece of dessert post-event in the comfort of my home, but I am mortified at the thought.

I guess many feel that having paid for the meal it behooves them to take what cannot be consumed.

BD-Havendale.

Remain mortified. The rules of engagement are very simple. Resist the urge to ask for anything to take home UNLESS you are the host and will be footing the bill. That's right, the person actually paying the bill is the only individual permitted to ask for a take-out/doggie bag and yes, even that dreaded four-letter word: foil. On another note, children should be encouraged to sit and dine properly and not walk away from the table with food.
